16 August 1945 - The Tipton Advertiser

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Bunker, the widow of J. W. Bunker, passed away in a Cedar Rapids hospital at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, after an extended illness. Services were held in the Turner chapel at Cedar Rapids on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. and interment was made in the Masonic cemetery near Tipton the same afternoon.

Mrs. Bunker was born March 31, 1859, near Tipton, and spent her early life until her marriage in the Tipton community. In 1909 she moved to Cedar Rapids.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Grace Romey of Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. Pauline B. Swartzlender of Eugene, Oregon; a son, Burdett G. Bunker of Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Miss Mattie Coutts and Mrs. Ida Nash, both of Tipton; four grandchildren, Charles Swartzlender of Eugene, Ore.; Richard D. Swartzlender, U. S. Navy in the Pacific; John R. Swartzlender in U. S. Navy on Saipan and Barbara Phillipson of Lennox, Calif; also a great-granddaughter, Barbara Rae Phillipson of Lennox.

Mrs. Bunker was a member of Westminster Presbyterian church of Cedar Rapids.
