Funeral services for Mrs. E.J. Behrens, 79, were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. in Zion Evangelical and Reformed Church, following a brief prayer service in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Meier at 1:15, with the Rev. N. S. Roberts officiating, and burial was in the Van Horn cemetery. Mrs. Behrens died at 6:30 p.m. Saturday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Julia Meier.

Mrs. Behrens, the former Julia Horstmann, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Horstmann, was born in Davenport, Oct. 28, 1869 and moved to Lowden at the age of 10. April 25, 1889, she was married to E. J. Behrens in Lexington, Neb. He preceded her in death in 1942. The couple resided in Manning and Elwood before moving to a farm near Lowden in 1903.

Surviving are six sons, Ernest of Clarence, Frank of Meridian, Charles of Fort Benson, Montana, Alvin of Wilton, Clarence and Walter, Lowden; two daughters, Mrs. Martha Drager of Tipton, and Mrs. Meier of Lowden; two sisters, Mrs. Minnie Belter of Lowden, and Mrs. Anna Shea, Galesburg, Ill., also eighteen grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
