27 December 1945 - The Tipton Advertiser

Eva Morgan Applegate was born April 6, 1854, at Brush Grove, Ill., and with her parents came to Iowa at the age of 9 years. October 13, 1872, she was united in marriage with Lorenzo D. Applegate at Nevada, Iowa. Four children were born to this union, Wilbern A., George Ira, Vinton I. and Ada.

Mrs. Applegate passed away December 21st, 1945, at the age of 91 years, 8 months and 15 days at the home of her son on the same farm where she lived as a girl, was married, and spent the greatest part of her married life. Since the death of her husband, February 20, 1926, she has divided her time between the homes of her children in Nevada, Tipton and Northwood. Her husband, two sons, Wilbern and Ira and one grandchild, preceded her in death. She leaves her son Vinton, daughter Ada, three daughter-in-law, 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and two sisters, Mrs. I. H. Proctor and Mrs. C. R. Myer, both of Freeport, Ill.

Services were held Sunday p.m. in the Ryan funeral home in Nevada and she was laid to rest in the Nevada cemetery.

Mrs. Applegate has spent some time the past few years in Tipton at the home of her daughter Mrs. C. H. Banks, and has a wide circle of friends who will regret to know of her passing.
