Last rites for Lester Eugene Anderson, 25, were held at the United Methodist church, Nov. 26, with Dr. Glenn Parrott officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery with graveside services, Golden Rule Lodge No. 24, AF & AM, Rochester and the presentation of the flag by members of the Gary-Whalen post of the American Legion.

Pallbearers were Paul Clarahan, Jim Tallman, Harry Driscoll, Larry Carson, David Serovy and John Patton. Honorary pallbearers were Mike Stohman, Bill Riffey and John Altenhofen. Mrs. Irma Crawford was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Mike Cooper and Mr. and Mrs. James Stratton were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Anderson died at Veterans hospital, Iowa City, Nov. 22, as the result of injuries received in an automobile accident near Marengo Nov. 2 when the car in which he was a passenger was forced off the road and into a ditch. Anderson had been in the hospital since that time, with a broken neck and spinal injuries.

The son of Donald R. and Lucy M. Chaney Taylor Anderson, he was born at Cedar Rapids April 10, 1948 and graduated from Lincoln high school in 1966. He was married to Jackie E. Davis at Tipton Dec. 8, 1969.

A route salesman for the Mid-Continent Bottlers, Cedar Rapids, he had been a resident of Cedar Rapids for 4 years.

He was a member of the Mechanicsville Methodist church, The Golden Rule Lodge, AF & AM, Rochester, and the Nanford post of the American Legion, Cedar Rapids. He served in the United States Navy from 1967 to 1969 and was burned in a ship fire while on duty off Vietnam.

Mr. Anderson is survived by his wife, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Anderson, Mechanicsville; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Lois Jean) Wehde, West Liberty, 2 brothers, Richard and Glen Avie, both of Tipton and his maternal grandmother, Mrs. Bertha Taylor, Mechanicsville.
