Mrs. Peter Walter of Bennett, Iowa, died at the home of her son, A. L. Walter, near Wilton, Iowa, on November 6th, after a short illness. She had gone to pay a visit to her son and family on Sept. 5th, and while with them was suddenly taken ill on Sept. 15th, from which she never recovered.

Mother Walter, as she was known by all, was born near Easton, Pa., on March 18th, 1828. She was united in holy matrimony with Peter Walter on March 16th, 1852. To this happy union were born nine children, eight of whom survive her as do also survive her two step sons, thirty eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and many other near relatives and friends. The children, who survive Mother Walter, are her stepsons, J. L. Walter, of Lincoln, Neb., and H. A. Walter, of St. Louis, Mo., and her sons, B. F. Walter, of Portland, Oreg., J. H. and Herbert T. Walter, of Bennett, George W. Walter, of West Liberty, A. L. Walter, of Wilton Jct., and her daughters, Mrs. G. W. Downing, of West Liberty, Mrs. A. C. Pool, of Rising City, Neb., and Mrs. P. M. Pool, of Tipton, One son, John P. Walter died at Bennett on July 15th, 1908. All of the surviving children, excepting J. L. and B. F. Walter and Mrs. A. C. Pool, were present at the funeral.

Mother Walter when at the age of fourty years, came with her family from Easton, Pa., to Center township, Cedar county, Iowa, arriving here on Nov. 21st, 1868.

Deceased was a kind and loving mother to her stepchildren was well as to her own children. She was a devoted Christian during her whole life. From early childhood until her marriage she was a member and an active and faithful worker of the M. E. church. At her marriage she withdrew from the M. E. church and joined the Lutheran church, she remained a member of that church, and was at the time of her demise a member of the Trinity Lutheran church at Tipton.

Funeral occurred Tuesday afternoon from the family residence at Bennett with services in the M. E. church. Services were conducted by Rev. J. Kent Rizer, pastor of Trinity Lutheran church at Tipton, who delivered a most eloquent eulogy; his discourse being taken from the fifth chapter of Job, the twenty sixth verse. The church was filled with relatives and friends, who came to pay their last tribute of respect to their dear departed friend and mother.

The interment took place at the Inland cemetery, where her remains were placed beside those of her beloved husband and son.
