Jessie Elizabeth, second daughter of Alonzo and Rebecca Ann Rose Seaman, was born on a farm near Clarence, January 12, 1870. After attending the Clarence high school she attended a business college in Davenport, Iowa.

On September 19, 1900, Miss Seaman was united in marriage to John H. Woods of Clarence. To this union one daughter Grace was born. While a young woman she united with the Presbyterian church at Clarence.

Since 1935 Mrs. Woods and her daughter Grace have made their home in Tipton. Due to failing health she was confined to her home. The past four and one half years she has been bedfast and cared for by her daughter Grace. Mrs. Woods was uncomplaining in her illness and grateful to friends and neighbors for any act of kindness. She passed away Nov. 5, 1952, at the age of 82 years, 10 months and 23 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother George, and one sister Emily Kinney. She is survived by her daughter Grace of Tipton and one sister Rosa Coppess of Stanwood, seven nephews and a host of friends.

Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 8, 1952, with Rev. Raymon Ferguson officiating and interment at Clarence cemetery.
