Willie Von Roden was born on December 1st, 1904. He died Sunday evening, August 21st, at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Von Roden, two and one-half miles southwest of Lowden. Friday the boy took suddenly and severely sick with appendicitis and Saturday he underwent an operation at their home. We understand it was a case where puss had formed and it broke during the operation, causing blood poisoning. A trained nurse was in charge, but best efforts of nurse and physician could not save the child's life. The end came quick, ah! so quick.

The sorrowing parents, four brothers and two sisters survive little Willie to mourn his untimely death. The sympathy of all here is extended to the bereaved family.

Funeral was held Tuesday afternoon with services in the Evangelical church and interment in the Van Horn cemetery. Rev. Werning officiated. The pall bearers were the following named young men: Charles Behrens, Frank Behrens, Charles Wiese, Willie Wiese, Charles Strackbein and Charles Schmidt.
