Funeral services for Edwin Lewis Crist, 72, a retired farmer of near Stanwood, were held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Stanwood Methodist church with the Rev. Beaty McDonald in charge. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery.

Mr. Crist died May 30 of injuries suffered in a 2-car crash a few hours earlier at the intersection of Highways 17 and 30 near Jefferson.

The son of Robert and Carrie Averrill Crist, he was born Dec. 4, 1891 at Defiance. He was married to Florence Shuey Dec. 4, 1915 at Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, Florence; sons, Mearl and Clifford, both of Stanwood; 4 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Robert Crist and the following brothers and sisters: Emerson, Maquoketa; Harry, Stanwood; Howard, Des Moines; Lee, Pierre, S.D., and Mrs. Elmer (Mabel) Sawyer, Clarence; Mrs. George (Ethel) Beatty, Graceville, Minn.; and Mrs. Verne (Eva) Johnson, Los Angeles, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father and 2 infant brothers.

Mr. Crist was a Methodist, a member of Fremont Lodge 616 and Idelle Chapter of the Eastern Star. He served one term as a Republican supervisor from Jan. 1, 1940 until Dec. 31, 1943.
