Funeral services for Ernest Behrens, 74, retired Clarence area farmer were held at the Chapman Funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with Dr. C. W. Ebbert in charge. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery.

Pallbearers were Herbert Robinson, Edwin Decker, Henry Jess, George Ibsen, Harold Dewell and Karl Schnipkoweit. Rosalyn Kintzel was organist and Mrs. George Ibsen and Mrs. Edwin Decker will be in charge of flowers.

Mr. Behrens died May 2 at a Cedar Rapids hospital after a week's illness. He was born Dec. 31, 1889 at Manning, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Julius Behrens of Lowden.

He was married to Augusta Muentz Jan. 31, 1917 at Davenport. She survives along with a daughter, Mrs. Wallace (Hilda) Wingert, Tipton; 3 sons, Milton, Clarence; Roy, Rockford, Ill., and Erwin, New Liberty. Mrs. Roger (Verona) Tenley, Stanwood and Richard Behrens, Clarence, were raised by their grandparents. He is survived by 3 other grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Mr. Behrens was preceded in death by 2 brothers, 2 sisters, and 1 grandchild.
