Stanwood - Funeral services for Arthur E. Paist, 80, were conducted in the Chapman Funeral Home, Clarence. Rev. Beaty McDonald officiated at the service and Mrs. John Swift sang accompanied by Mrs. Edward Spear.

Mr. Paist died in the home of his son in Gary, Ind., Nov. 26 following a lingering illness. Mr. and Mrs. Paist have made their home there the past seven years.

Arthur Paist was born the son of Edward and Nora Paist in Stanwood on August 16, 1884. He was married to Ida Sander in the Stanwood Methodist parsonage on Jan. 8, 1908. They were the parents of two sons, Earl and Charles, and raised three foster children.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Charles, Gary, Ind. and foster children, Mrs. Roberta Hiley, Gary, Ind.; Mrs. Iola Wagner, Portland, Ore.; and Mrs. Irene Jensen, Olin.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Beulah Pickens, Tualation, Ore. He was preceded in death by a son, Charles, and two brothers, George and Lester.

Pallbearers were Darrell Worby, Keith Flockhart, Gene Brown, Paul Gadke, George Thomson and Glenn Thumma. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery.
