Funeral services for Mrs. Fred Gade, 74, were held Dec. 28 in Zion United Church of Christ, Lowden, with the Rev. Robert McDanel officiating. Burial was in the Lowden cemetery.

Mrs. Walter Brendes and Mrs. Floyd Hansen sang, accompanied by Irma Strackbein at the organ. Pallbearers were Reuben, Lewis and Erwin Strackbein, Leroy Boettger, Henry Niermeyer and Ralph Gade, nephews of the deceased.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Otte and Leona Strackbein, nephew and nieces of the deceased, were in charge of flowers.

The former Florentine (Dena) Strackbein was born Oct. 5, 1889, southwest of Lowden, the daughter of the late Louis and Sarah Andersen Strackbein. She was educated in Lowden rural schools. She married the late Fred Gade in 1916. They farmed in the Lowden vicinity until 1951 when they moved into Lowden. Mr. Gade died in June, 1961.

She was a life-long member of the Zion United Church, Lowden, and its Womens's Fellowship.

Survivors are 2 sons, Fred, Denver, Colo., and Hubert, Wheatland; a daughter, Mrs. Roger (Dorothy) Fox, Lowden; 6 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, and 2 brothers, John and Francis Strackbein, both of Lowden.

Her husband, 4 brothers and one sister preceded her in death.
