Mechanicsville - Mrs. Bertha Vanderbilt died in her home Dec. 30 following an illness of several months. Funeral services were held today (Jan. 2) in the Presbyterian church with Pastor George Gallaher officiating at 2 p.m. Mrs. Leroy Wendt was soloist.

Bertha Louvina was the daughter of William and Lousetta Pieper Robinson. She attended the Hazel Hill school. On March 21, 1906 she was married to Joseph D. Vanderbilt in Clinton, Ia. The Vanderbilts farmed southeast of Mechanicsville for many years. Mr. Vanderbilt died in 1945.

Mrs. Vanderbilt was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by her parents, four brothers and four sisters.

She is survived by Mrs. George Fisher, a twin sister; and three other sisters, Mrs. Alice Mershon, Madison, S.D.; Ms. Gilbert Murfield, Aurora, S.D.; and Mrs. Ida Miller, Martelle.

Pallbearers were Donald Robinson, Gorman Robinson, Virgil Miller, Darrell Reid, Albert G. Fisher and Robert Ross. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery, Mechanicsville.
