Clarence - Funeral services were held at St. John's United Church of Christ on Monday with Dr. C. W. Ebbert in charge for Raymond Henry Severin, 71, a retired farmer and life long resident of Cedar County, who died April 17 at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, after a lingering illness.

Born January 5, 1893, he was married to Hilda Sonnemaker, January 29, 1919, and they lived on a farm north of Lowden until 1953 when they moved to Clarence.

He was a fifty year member and past chairman of the Cedar County Farm Bureau and was past chairman of the Cedar-Johnson County Farm Service Company

He served on the Massillon Township and Cedar County school boards and on the Cedar County Federal Housing Administration board. He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ, the Mount Hope Lodge No. 501 A.F. and A.M., and the Clarence Chapter No. 461, Order of Eastern Star.

Surviving in addition to his wife are two children, Robert, Lowden, and Vera Lewis, Bettendorf, a brother, Harry, Mechanicsville, a sister, Mrs. Irma Bachman, Clarence, and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Elmer and two sisters, Eleanor Cook and Vera Severin. Burial was in St. John's cemetery.

Hymns were sung by a mixed quartet with Antoinette Rix at the organ.

Walter Severin, Elmer Schmidt, Edward Bachman, Everett Bixler, Donald Bixler, and James Bixler were pallbearers. Mrs. William Johnson, Mrs. Paul Beaudry and Mrs. John Decker were in charge of flowers.
