Word was received last Friday by Tipton relatives and friends of the passing of Mrs. Clarence Safley, a former Tipton resident. Her death occurred in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Charles McF. Reed, Santa Ana, Calif. with whom she made her home the last two years of her life.

Minerva Elizabeth, daughter of the late Aaron and Mary Wisener, pioneer residents of Cedar county, Iowa, was born in Red Oak township, March 30, 1866.

She was married to Clarence Safley, Mar. 30, 1891, in Tipton, Iowa. They left Tipton in 1917 for California, making their home in Long Beach and since 1926, in Santa Ana. Her last journey to her old home in Tipton was in 1949 when she spent the summer here. Mr. Safley's death occurred Aug. 3, 1946.

Mrs. Safley leaves to mourn their loss, a son J. C. Safley, editor of the San Diego Union; a daughter, Mrs. McF. Reed, Santa Ana, a granddaughter, Mrs. Wm. Flanagan, and a great-great-granddaughter, Myra Flanagan, of South Pasadena, Calif.; also a number of nieces and nephews, two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Britcher and Mrs. J. C. Caldwell, Tipton.

Services were held March 8 in Santa Ana with the Rev. M. Dewitt Stafford, pastor of the United Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment was in Fairhaven cemetery, Santa Ana.
