Frederick William Schiele was born at the family home near Durant, Iowa, on Jan. 5, 1871 and passed away on July 18, 1952, at his home near Bennett. He was the son of Augusta and Frederick William Schiele, early settlers of Cedar county.

He received his education in the rural schools and the Wilton Business college. His early life was spent on a farm near Durant and later moved to his farm near Bennett.

On July 8, 1915, he was united in marriage to Catherine Branch and to this union one child was born. For many years he owned one of the leading registered Hereford herd in Iowa and was a member of the Hereford Breeders association. For more than 60 years he was an extensive cattle feeder and patron of the Chicago market. At one time he was a breeder of Percheron horses and later became interested in the raising of American Saddle horses.

Over a period of years he was director of the Durant Savings bank, Farmers and Merchants Savings bank of Durant and the Bennett Savings bank.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian church of Wilton and the Wilton Masonic lodge 167, Consistory and Kaaba Shrine.

Surviving are his daughter Jeannette, and two sisters, Mrs. F. McClean, of Davenport, and Mrs. Arnnita Kincaid of Ashville, N.C.

His wife and parents and one brother, Edward, preceded him in death.

Funeral services were conducted Monday, July 21, 1952, at the Sheets funeral home in Tipton with Rev. Hugh Roberts officiating. Services were conducted by the Wilton Masonic lodge with burial at the Durant cemetery.
