Mrs. Martha Schaefer Rix, 63, died at her home here Wednesday night after a long illness.

Services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the home and at 2 p.m. in the Zion Evangelical and Reformed church of Lowden, with the Rev. N. S. Roberts officiating. Burial was in Lowden cemetery.

She was born Martha Hansen, Aug. 23, 1888 in Massillon township. She lived in the Lowden and Clarence communities all her life. She married Otto Schaefer, Dec. 24, 1908 and the couple farmed near Lowden until 1918 when they moved to Lowden. He died in August, 1923.

She remarried June 8, 1934, to Herman E. Rix of Clarence. The couple lived in Clarence until 1936 when they moved to Lowden. She was a life member of the Zion church and of the Lowden Zion Women's guild.

Survivors: the widower, one son, Leonard Schaefer of Lowden; two daughters, Mrs. Lena Zutz of Forest Park, Ill., and Mrs. Allison Stolte of Clarence, and six grandchildren. One step son preceded her in death.
