On Monday, July 3d at 4 p.m., death entered the home of Mrs. Caroline Reinking, when this faithful and loving mother, overtaken by a second stroke of paralysis was peacefully taken away into the dwelling place of the Most High.

While out visiting with one of her daughters, Mrs. Louie Conrad, in the night from Saturday to Sunday, she had been overtaken by the first stroke of paralysis. But after having regained enough strength to be moved she had been brought back to her home on Monday morning under a doctor's care.

Caroline Tonne was born on Dec. 6, 1838, at Landesbergen, in the kingdom of Hannover. When but 16 years old, in 1854, she came to this country with her mother, to Elmhurst, Illinois. On March 19, 1858, she became united in marriage to A. Carl Reinking at Marion, Iowa, where they farmed one year only. After having resided a short time in Chicago they came back to Marion to farm, from where they later moved to Cedar county.

To Mr. and Mrs. Reinking were given nine children, seven girls and two boys, of whom two, the oldest girl, Louise, and the second boy, Ludwig, died while young.

On October 9, 1891, Mrs. Reinking was left a widow by the sudden death of her husband. Since then she kept house with her youngest daughter, Alma, in Clarence.

For a number of years deceased had been failing in health, but it was not till in August last year when the members of the family began to take matters seriously.

Mrs. Reinking was 72 years, 6 months and 27 days old at the time of her death.

Besides the seven children: Mrs. Caroline Schluter of Lowden, Mrs. Sophie Bergmann of Clarence, Henry Reinking of Clarence, Mrs. Alvine Freese of Mechanicsville, Mrs. Wilhelmine Conrad of Clarence, Mrs. Emma Freese of Clarence, Miss Alma Reinking of Clarence, deceased leaves 23 grandchildren to mourn over her sudden death.

Funeral services were held at St. John's church at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, from where remains were brought to the Lowden cemetery to be laid at rest. Rev. E. Hansen officiated. -- Clarence Sun.
