Harry G. Parr, son of Robert and Rebecca Alexander Parr, was born in Franklin, Indiana, Oct. 30, 1872, and passed away at the Veterans' hospital at Iowa City, Monday evening, May 12, after a lingering illness of two months.

Mr. Parr was a veteran of the Spanish-American war, enlisting June 20, 1898, and later reenlisting, serving in the Philippines in Company D of the 30th Infantry Regiment. He was mustered out Feb. 17, 1901. Shortly after the war he came to Iowa working as a bridge foreman for seventeen years.

He was united in marriage to Ruby Domer Whitchale, Dec. 26, 1923, and established their home in Springdale where he was janitor of the school for several years.

Mr. Parr will be remembered as a friend to every one who knew him. During the many years he was janitor of the local school the children of the community were always welcome in his home. As a lover of nature, he took great pride in his garden and flowers. His interests were in the betterment and welfare of his home, his church and community.

He is survived by his wife and stepdaughter Doris, two brothers Rev. Roscoe Parr of Columbus, O., and Ira Parr of Morgantown, Ind., a number of nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

At the time of his death, Mr. Parr was a member of the Springdale Methodist church of which he held the position as trustee emeritus. He was also a member of the United Spanish War Veterans, Van Alatine Camp No. 27, in Iowa City, Iowa.

Services were held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Methodist church in Springdale with burial at the Friends' cemetery, Springdale, Ia. with military rites carried out.

Casketbearers were nephews of the deceased: Arthur Domer of Stanwood, Earl Domer and Leslie Phelps of Tipton, John Domer of Delmar, Kenneth Johnson of Cedar Rapids and Milo Phelps, Jr. of Glenview, Ill.
