Joseph William Ocheltree, 58, railway mail clerk and former resident of Tipton, died suddenly at 1:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1 at his home in Davenport, following a heart attack.

Mr. Ocheltree was born Aug. 18, 1887 at Tipton, received his education in the schools there and married Teckla Broderfus in Tipton May 27, 1914. After their marriage the couple came to Davenport, where Mr. Ocheltree entered the railway mail service. He was a member of the Railway Mail association. A sister and two brothers preceded him in death.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Roger Barnett of Davenport; one son, Ernest Ocheltree in the U.S. Navy; four sisters, Mrs. Roscoe Garrett of Rock Island, Mrs. John Edmon of Davenport, Mrs. Bessie Wharton of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Myrtle Brunner of Richland, Ia., and a brother, Ernest Ocheltree of Tipton.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 o'clock Thursday afternoon in the Hill and Frederick chapel at Davenport with burial in the Pine Hill cemetery there.
