1 May 1908 - The Lowden News

Donald Earl, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. V. R. Northrop, died at their home at Bertram, Ia., on Saturday evening of erysipelas, at the age of only two months and six days.

The sorrowing parents and little Vergil, only brother of Donald Earl, arrived at Lowden Monday morning with the remains, and funeral was held here Monday afternoon. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. S. V. Williams at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Spoo, uncle and aunt, of Donald Earl, and interment was made in the family lot on the Lowden cemetery.

The little one had been ailing for about two weeks, but the disease did not appear very severely, and a speedy recovery was anticipated by the physician and members of the family. But on Saturday morning the nature of the disease asserted itself in more violent form, and without abating during the day it soon wore away the little ones strength, and his life departed.

All here sympathize deeply with the bereaved parents.
