1 May 1908 - The Lowden News

C. A. Nordhaus, bank cashier, of Vetter, Iowa, died at Clinton, of heart trouble at the age of nearly 36 years, at the home of his brother-in-law, Chas. Bair. Mr. Nordhaus is the son of Mrs. H. F. Nordhaus of Stanwood. He was at Chicago consulting a physician about his ailment and on his way home stopped off to visit Clinton relatives. Friday he took worse, and Sunday he died.

Wednesday the remains were brought to Stanwood and the funeral was held the same day with services at the M.E. church, and interment in the Stanwood cemetery. He leaves his wife and one daughter, 7 or 8 years old, his mother and 1 sister to mourn his untimely demise.

His life has surely had a place of blessing in the world. His friends are counted by the multitude, wherever he has lived. He was earnest, ambitious, wide awake, as expressed by one: "If he wasn't a man I don't know where you would look for one." The beautiful floral tributes and the many sympathizing friends speak a loving tribute to his memory.

C. A. Nordhaus was born here in Lowden, July 26, 1873. When quite young yet the family moved to Stanwood. His father, H. F. Nordhaus, died at Stanwood a few years ago.
