Services Held For Richard O. Greene Killed Saturday in Auto Accident

Monticello - Funeral services were held Tuesday in the rural Wayne Zion Lutheran Church for Richard Otis Greene, 26, Norway, killed about 1 a.m. Saturday in an auto crash near Walford.

Highway patrolman Ricard Henderickson said Green lost control of his vehicle on Hiway 149 at the south edge of Walford. The car ran off the roadway and overturned.

Greene, driving alone at the time of the accident, was pronounced dead upon arrival at a Cedar Rapids hospital.

The former Mechanicsville resident is survived by his wife, the former Marilou Hayen of Amber; 2 daughters, Terest, 3; and Lori, 19 months; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dana Greene, Mechanicsville; 2 sisters, Mrs. Art Wooff, Cedar Rapids and Patricia at home.

The Greenes lived in the Page apartments in Mechanicsville before moving to Norway 1 1/2 years ago.

Greene attended Mechanicsville schools and served in the army from 1956 to 1959. He operated a truck-tractor and did custom hauling.

Pallbearers were Gene Brown, Gary Greene, Loren Engelbart, Edward Nost, Virgil Behrends, and Gerald Bodeker.

Rev. Luther Wacholtz and Rev. Arnold Edwards conducted the funeral service. Goettsch Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements and burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Monticello.
