Mechanicsville - Funeral services were held in the Methodist church, Wednesday at 2 p.m. for Ernest S. Greene, 59, with Rev. Beaty McDonald officiating.

Mr. Greene died in his home here Sunday night March 28 following an extended illness.

Ernest Snyder Greene was born August 7, 1905, in Wataugo County, N.C., the son of Wiley Otis and Rachel Louisa Snyder.

Mr. Greene attended high school at Humeston, Ia., and was married June 19, 1926, to Mary Lucille Johnson, Albany, Mo.

He was a member of the Christian Church and worked at Century Engineering, Cedar Rapids, as a welder from 1951 to 1964. They have been residents of Mechanicsville since 1940.

Mr. Greene is survived by his wife, Mary Lucille Greene, a daughter, Mrs. Dale (Frances) Hormann, Mt. Vernon; a son, Gary; and three sisters, Mrs. J. F. Shriver, Des Moines, Mrs. R. M. Kelley, Boone, N.C. and Mrs. Council Cook, Blowing Rock, N.C.

Also surviving are two brothers, John David Greene, Cedar Rapids and Dana of Mechanicsville.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two infant children, Ivan Rex and Jerome Ray and a brother, Gerald.

Hubert Deke, Clarence Maher, Elbert White, Lewis Hartman, Peter Paulson, and Leonard Carter were the pallbearers. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery with Horner Funeral Home in charge.
