Services Held for Carrie Miller, 99

Mechanicsville - Services were held Thursday (today) at 2 p.m. for Mrs. Carrie Miller.

Mrs. Miller died in the Mt. Vernon Nursing home Tuesday afternoon. She was the mother of Mrs. Everette Ferguson with whom she had made her home for many years. She would have been 100 years old next April 10.

Services were conducted by Rev. Ralph Schenck in the Presbyterian church with burial in Rose Hill cemetery.

Horner Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carrie Miller Buried Thursday at Rose Hill

Mechanicsville - Funeral services for Mrs. Carrie C. Miller were held Thursday, Aug. 26, at the Presbyterian church with Rev. Ralph Schenck officiating.

Mrs. Miller, one of the oldest residents of the community, would have been 100 next April. She died Aug. 24, in a Mt. Vernon nursing home as a result of a broken hip sustained on June 20.

Carrie Cecelia Winey was born April 10, 1886 near Scotts Grove in Scott county. Her parents were Benjamin F. Winey and Rachael Petersen Winey, with whom she later moved to Crawford county.

She was married to John Miller on Feb. 22, 1886. They were the parents of three children, Pearl, who died in infancy, Leo C., who died in 1952 and Mrs. Everett (Gladys E.) Ferguson, who survives.

The family moved to Mechanicsville in 1898. Mr. Miller preceded his wife in death in April, 1945.

Mrs. Miller is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews and several cousins.

George Brown, John Mullan, Hugh Lamont, Edward Jack, J. C. Butler and W. E. Shrope were pallbearers.

Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery. Horner funeral service was in charge.
