Funeral service was held Saturday for Miss Elizabeth Moffit, 86, native and life resident of Cedar county, who died in the home of her nephew Francis R. Moffit northwest of Tipton, at noon last Thursday following a long illness. Rites were conducted by the Rev. Stanley Schlick of the First Presbyterian church of Tipton, at 2:00 p.m. at the McCormick funeral home. Interment was in the Masonic cemetery.

Elizabeth Moffit was born Dec. 14, 1858, in Red Oak township, Cedar county, Iowa, the daughter of Francis Moffit and Arabella Moffit. She died at the home of her nephew on May 10, 1945. She leaves to mourn her passing, one sister Eva Dallas, and two nephews, Francis R. Moffit and William M. Dallas.

She will always be remembered for her warm heart and kindly manner. Her interests were centered in the home. She was an excellent cook and a gracious hostess whose hospitality was freely extended to all. Her long and useful life was truly one devoted to the welfare and happiness of others.
