Funeral services for Maye Meier, 79, Cedar Rapids and formerly of Lowden were held at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 12, 1988 at Zion United Church of Christ in Lowden with the Rev. Steven Voelker and the Rev. Charles West officiating. Burial was in the Van Horn cemetery at Lowden. Pallbearers were Kenneth Behrens, Virgil Behrens, Lewis Strackbein, William Butterbrodt, Lynne Strabala and Leroy Krutzfield. Mrs. Alden Klahn was the organist.

Mrs. Meier died Oct. 9 at St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids.

The daughter of Ernest J. and Julia Horstmann Behrens, she was born Oct. 19, 1908 at Lowden. She married Julius Meier Dec. 8, 1940 at Lowden. He died in 1975. She moved to Cedar Rapids in 1976. She was a member of the church.

Mrs. Meier is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Evelyn) Brendes, Cedar Rapids; 3 grandsons; a sister, Martha Drager, Tipton and 2 brothers, Walter Behrens, Dade City, Fla. and Charles Behrens, Fort Benton, Mont.
