Jas. Maurer, Pioneer Resident, Dies After Extended Illness

James H. Maurer, Former County Officer, Called Saturday

Mr. James H. Maurer was born near Tipton, May 24, 1873, the son of Solomon and Sarah Maurer.

He was united in marriage to Betty Wehde on January 2, 1908. To this union was born one son, James Jr.

Mr. Maurer passed away Dec. 6, 1952, being 79 years, 6 months and 12 days of age. He is survived by his wife, the son and daughter-in-law, and three grandchildren,.

Mr. Maurer was bedfast the past fourteen months, and in limited health the past 13 years. For many years he served as a county road maintenance man, and was a former member of the Board of Supervisors of Cedar county.

Funeral service was held Monday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m. in the Sheets funeral home with the Rev. Raymond Tiemeyer of the Trinity Lutheran church officiating. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.
