Henry Moeller Sr. was born January 30, 1846, in Dreenkrougen, Mecklenburg-Schwerin, Germany; christened and confirmed in Neustadt, Germany.

He was a soldier and served in the Dragoner Regiment No. 18, during the war of 1870-71.

He was married in Hamburg, Germany, Dec. 7, 1873, to Miss Catherine Rebecca Schult. They remained in Hamburg about 10 years, coming to America about 1883, and settling near Lowden, Iowa. Later they purchased a farm about 2 miles north of Bennett. About 9 years ago they moved to Bennett, which since has been their home.

In May, 1916, he was taken seriously ill with heart trouble. He rallied, however, and was able to be about and do a little light work. His last illness dates from April 25, followed by kidney trouble and unconsciousness. He died Monday night, April 30th, at the age of 71 years and three months. He was a faithful member of the German Evangelical church, and was ever ready to help in any way possible. He served many years as janitor and usher of the church.

He leaves to mourn his loss, his wife and five children, namely, Hertha, wife of John Meyer, of Sutherland, Iowa; Henry, of Bennett; Will of near New Liberty; George, of near New Liberty; Miss Lizzie, of Bennett, and a host of relatives and friends.

Mr. Moeller was a beneficiary member if the local M. W. A. and Yoemen lodges, and members of both camps will attend the funeral.

The funeral services will be held at the Bennett German Evangelical church at two o'clock this (Thursday) afternoon. Rev. Bendigkeit will have charge of the services. Interment will be made in Inland cemetery. -- Bennett Gazette
