The icy hand of death brought sudden grief and deep sorrow in the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. Herman Meyer, 1231 Camanche avenue, Clinton, Iowa. Their daughter, Miss Lulu, was taken away after but two days severe illness. The young lady, who had been in the best of health before, had been complaining for several days of bowel trouble, but her sickness was not thought to be of a serious nature, but all at once intestinal inflammation set in and Miss Meyer died at their home Sunday evening at 11:40 o'clock.

Lulu Meyer was born here at Lowden on June 11th, 1891. She left here when her parents moved from here to Clinton in the fall of 1905. She died May 22nd, 1910, at the age of 18 years, 11 months and 11 days. There survive to mourn her untimely demise her parents, four brothers, Herman of Cavour, S. D., and Henry, Emil and Charles of Clinton, and three sisters, the Misses Lena, Pauline and Dora of Clinton. All were here at the funeral excepting the younger ones, Charles, Pauline and Dora. Edward Rarret of Clinton was also here with the Meyer family at the funeral.

Funeral was held Wednesday with short services at the home in charge of Rev. L. Seehase of Clinton, then the remains were brought here on the noon train and services were held here in the afternoon in the Evangelical church conducted by Rev. Werning. There were a great many most beautiful floral tributes. The pall bearers were six young lady friends of the deceased, namely, the Misses Emma Giese, Hedwig Meier, Irene Jurgensen, Augusta Kreinbring, Lizzie Eggert and Edna Glaser. Interment was made in the Van Horn cemetery.
