Last rites for George Albert Thumma, 77, were held Feb. 14 at the Sheets and Son Funeral home in Tipton with the Rev. Kenneth Carroll officiating. Burial was in the Clarence cemetery.

Pallbearers were his sons, Merle, Glenn, Melvin, Harold, Dale and Robert Thumma. Patsy Thompson and Janet Smith sang; Mrs. Merl Carroll was organist. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Klein and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Domer were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Thumma died unexpectedly at his home in Tipton Feb. 10.

The son of John and Ida Sennett Thumma, he was born April 8, 1888 at Zion, Penn. and was educated in the Cumberland county, Pennsylvania schools. He was married to Luella Burkholder at Mt. Holly Springs, Penn. Nov. 28, 1912.

He had farmed in the Cedar county area for 56 years. He was member of the Stanwood Masonic lodge.

He is survived by 6 sons, Merle, who is on leave from military duty in Vietnam; Glenn, Stanwood; Melvin, Dale and Robert, Tipton and Harold, Phoenix, Ariz.; 2 daughters, Mrs. Richard (Helen) Smith and Jean, Tipton, and 30 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, 5 brothers and 2 sisters.
