Mechanicsville - Funeral services were held for Mrs. Josie Hartman, 81, in the Morgan Funeral home, Lisbon, on Tuesday, at 2 p.m., with Rev. George Gallaher, officiating. Mrs. Hartman died in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, on Sunday, Feb. 13, following a lingering illness.

Josie Havelik Hartman was born the daughter of Josephine and Joseph Hoppe Havelik on May 23, 1884, in Czechoslovakia. She came to this country when she was 3 years old and received her education in the country schools.

She was married to Frank Hartman on Sept. 3, 1912 at Lisbon. They lived most of their life in the Mt. Vernon and Mechanicsville communities. Her husband died in 1962.

Mrs. Hartman was a member of the Presbyterian church.

Survivors include her 3 sons and 6 daughters; Mrs. Harold (Libby) Longerbeam, Mt. Vernon; Mrs. Verle (Esther) Crain, Milo Hartman, Mrs. Raymond (Helen) White, Mrs. Howard (Dorothy) Cross and Leo Hartman, all of Cedar Rapids; Lewis Hartman and Mrs. James (Adalene) Butler, both of Mechanicsville; and Mrs. Clarence (Valesta) Trimble, Bettendorf.

Also surviving are 13 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren; 3 brothers, Frank Havelik, Central City, Joe Havelik, Robbins, and Adolph, Cedar Rapids; and 3 sisters, Mrs. Mary Kubicek, Huron Lake, Minn., Rose Adkins and Libbie Savage, both of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 sisters, Mrs. Anne Mallie and Mrs. Emma Daubenmier.

Pallbearers were James Rife, James Dohmen, Glen Kamberling, Paul Thimmes, Herman Deerberg and Bret Mathews.

Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery, Mechanicsville.
