Last rites for Charlie Alexander Achenbach, 64, were held Feb. 6 at the Sheets and Son funeral home with the Rev. Eugene Miller officiating. Burial was in Shawver cemetery at Cedar Bluff.

Pallbearers were Ray Mitchell, Joseph Kessler, Martin Kipp, Thomas Bena, Forrest Rhoads and John Lahmon. Mrs. Max Phelps was organist and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Dean Moore were in charge of flowers.

Mr. Achenbach died at his farm home near Mechanicsville Feb. 3, following a heart attack.

The son of Alexander and Mary Schutt Achenbach, he was born Dec. 31, 1901 at Cedar Bluff and was educated in the rural Cedar county schools. He was married to Nellie Mason at Cedar Rapids Feb. 29, 1928.

He had farmed near Mechanicsville since 1941.

Mr. Achenbach is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Wilson (Doris) Howe, Tipton; 3 grandchildren; 2 brothers, Earl and Walter Achenbach, both of Lisbon and 5 sisters, Mrs. Gerald (Beulah) Jones, Stanwood; Mrs. Russell (Nola) Howard, Tipton; Mrs. Harry (Velma) Hegarty, Stanwood; Mrs. Hilbert (Mildred) Dice, Volga and Mrs. Roger (Clara) Messner, West Liberty.
