18 September 1952 - The Tipton Advertiser

Mrs. Frieda Barbara Howe of Tipton vicinity passed away suddenly Tuesday morning, Sept. 16. She was born in Muscatine county Dec. 1, 1887, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Heabner.

Immediate survivors include two sons, Raymond and Wilson at home; four daughters, Mrs. Maynard Herring and Mrs. Victor Gaul of Mechanicsville, Mrs. Elmer Maxson and Mrs. Gene Todd of West Branch; one sister, Mrs. Clara Davis of Marengo; two brothers, Raymond Heabner of El Monte, Calif., and Harold Heabner of Dike, Iowa.

Funeral rites will be at the Rochester Methodist church Thursday afternoon, Sept. 18, at 2:30 o'clock with interment in the Rochester cemetery. Rev. Olson of West Branch will officiate. Friends may call at the Rochester church after noon on Thursday.

Frieda Rica Heabner was born in Muscatine county, Iowa, Dec. 21, 1887, and passed away at her home south of Tipton, Sept. 16, 1952, at the age of 64 years, 8 months and 26 days.

She was the daughter of George Heabner and Lena Rexroth and was one of a family of 7 children, all of whom have passed on with the exception of one sister, Mrs. Clara Davis, of Marengo, Iowa, and two brothers, Raymond, of El Monte, Calif., and Harold of Dike, Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Orlando H. Howe Dec. 20, 1907. To this union seven children were born, Raymond and Wilson at home, Helen Gaul and Genevieve Herring of Mechanicsville, Frances Maxson and Evelyn Todd of West Branch; Evelyn's twin sister, Eva Mae, passed away in infancy.

Her parents preceded her in death. She was a kind and devoted mother, spending most of her time in her home caring for her family. The last few years she has been confined to her home because of ill health. She is survived by her six children, two brothers, one sister, seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one niece.

Funeral services were conducted Sept. 18, 1952, in the Rochester Methodist church with Rev. Olson of West Branch officiating and burial in Rochester cemetery.
