Caroline Hoyman, the fourth child of Henry S. and Mary Maley Hoyman, was born at Stanwood, Ia., July 16, 1877. After several months illness, died April 16, 1952, at her home in Sigourney, Ia. She was a member of the first class to graduate from the Stanwood school. She afterward graduated from the State Teachers college at Cedar Falls, Ia., after which she taught in several schools of the state. While teaching at Keswick, Ia., she met Joe O'Brien whom she married on July 3, 1907. They lived in North English for a time, then moved to the vicinity of Sigourney. Have lived in Sigourney for the last number of years, where she was a member of the Presbyterian church.

To them were born four children, Lynn of Valley Junction, Kans., Frank of Kansas City, Kans., Avis Miller of Conroe, Texas and Elinor Shirey of Lake Providence, La.

She also leaves six grandchildren, three brothers, Charles and Harry of Stanwood, and Will of Indianola; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Ives of Unadilla, N.Y., Mrs. Eva Hamilton, Chicago, and Mrs. Avis Lyon, of Wheeling, W.V. One brother Frank of Assint, Egypt died Oct. 8, 1938, and a sister Mrs. Margaret Warmuth of Mechanicsville died Nov. 4, 1937.

The funeral was held Saturday afternoon, April 19, at the Presbyterian church in Sigourney. Those attending from a distance were Mrs. Eva Hamilton, Chicago; Rev. and Mrs. Clement Loehr, of Winterset, Miss Bertha Davidson of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Hoyman of Indianola, Chas. Hoyman, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Davidson of Stanwood, Mr. and Mrs. Willard Hoyman of Olin and Mr. Henry Warmuth of Mechanicsville.
