Rites Friday At St. Mary's Church for Ernest Crock

Mechanicsville - Funeral services for Ernest Crock, 63, will be held in St. Mary's Catholic church, Mechanicsville, at 9:30 a.m. Friday. The rosary will be said Wednesday and Thursday evenings at 8 p.m.

Mr. Crock, a longtime resident of this community died Tuesday shortly after 3 p.m. while driving his tractor from his farm to the Wald Implement Company to have some repairs made. He was found in a ditch near the Don Hipple farm with the tractor overturned. His leg was pinned by the steering wheel.

Mr. Crock, a native of Ohio, is survived by his wife, Catherine Driscoll Crock, a daughter, Mrs. Ray Rouse, Tipton; a son, Bernard, Keota; 10 grandchildren and 5 brothers and 3 sisters living in Ohio.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until noon today, or after 3 p.m. at the Sheets and Son Funeral home, Tipton.

Requiem high mass for Ernest James Crock, 63, was celebrated at St. Mary's church, Mechanicsville, Feb. 3 with the Rev. P. J. Casey officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Pallbearers were Weldon and William Woods, Roland and Kenneth Herring, Paul Crock, Forest Rhoads, Raymond Kruse and Nathan Carr. The church choir sang. Genevieve Ulrich was organist.

Mr. Crock was killed in an accident while driving his tractor from his farm to the Wald Implement company to have some repairs made. He was found in a ditch near the Don Hipple farm with the tractor overturned. His leg was pinned by the steering wheel. The accident occurred on Jan. 31.

The son of Edward and Anna Nau Crock, he was born Feb. 15, 1903 at Caldwell, Ohio and was educated in the rural schools of Noble county, Ohio. He was married to Catherine Driscoll at Mechanicsville June 8, 1932. He had been a resident of Cedar county since 1928 and had farmed in the Tipton area for many years.

Mr. Crock was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Mechanicsville, and the Men's council of the church.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Kathleen) Rouse, Tipton; a son, Bernard, Keota; 5 brothers, Linus, Roman, Sebastian and Albert, all of Caldwell, Ohio and Andrew, Zanesville, Ohio and 3 sisters, Mrs. Harry (Rose) Corrnett, Mrs. Fred (Alma) Tipton, both of Zanesville and Mrs. Walter (Elizabeth) Rohrig, Canton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
