Dr. Thiessen Dies in Illinois

Stanwood - Memorial services for Dr. Garrett Thiessen, 66, will he held Thursday, July 20, at 4:30 p.m. at Faith United Presbyterian church, Monmouth, Ill.

Dr. Thiessen was stricken suddenly Monday evening in a restaurant in Monmouth where he had gone for dinner. He was the son of William and Susan Stiener Thiessen. He graduated from Stanwood high school, Cornell college and took his masters and doctors degrees from the University of Iowa. He taught chemistry in Pennsylvania and for many years had been head of the chemistry department at Monmouth college, Monmouth, Ill. His wife is the former Isabel Davidson, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A. B. Davidson. The couple had no children.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, George and Rupert.
