L. V. Dauber, 54, Dies, Rites Held At Church Tuesday

Mechanicsville - Funeral services for Lowell (Smoke) Dauber were held Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Methodist church with the Rev. James Nelson officiating. Masonic services were held in the Horner Funeral Home Monday evening.

Mr. Dauber died in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Saturday afternoon, June 17, after being hospitalized on Monday.

Mr. Dauber was born Feb. 22, 1913 and was a lifetime resident of this community. He was a graduate of the Mechanicsville high school. He was married to Hazel Leinen at Rock Island, Ill., Sept. 5, 1934. He was a member of the Methodist church and the Patmos Lodge #155.

Mr. Dauber worked as a lineotype operator and printer for several years, owned and operated a feed mill and for the past several years was a Standard Oil agent.

He is survived by his wife and 2 sons, Richard of San Diego, Calif., and Russell at home and his mother, Mrs. Floyd Dallas, Indianapolis, Ind.

Pallbearers were O. H. Curtis, Lee Scott, Glen Kern, Sam Boyd, C. A. Smay and Howard Mason.

Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery with Horner Funeral Home in charge of services.
