Stanwood Woman, 101, Dies

Stanwood - Mrs. Anabel Wetherell, 101, died Tuesday, May 23 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. H. R. Klahn, with whom she had made her home since Dec. 1958. Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at Chapman's Funeral Home, Clarence, with Rev. Ralph Schenck officiating. Soloist will be Ruth Swift.

Anabel Wetherell, daughter of Thomas and Catherine Chryst Bloom, was born Sept. 29, 1865 at Monroe, Wis. At the age of 9 she came with her parents to Page county, Iowa, making the journey by covered wagon. She moved to Lisbon in 1890 and on Sept. 19, 1893 was married to Edward B. Wetherell at Lisbon.

The Wetherells had 3 children; 2 daughters, Mrs. H. R. (Miriam) Klahn, and Mrs. Glenn (Mildred) Speight, West Branch, and a son, John, who died at the age of 3.

She is survived by her 2 daughters, 4 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and a sister, Mrs. Amy Heflin, Whittier, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 6 brothers, 4 sisters, her husband and son.
