Funeral services for Henry Dircks, 72, Clarence, were held at 1:30 p.m., July 20, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence, the Rev. Calvin Schumacher officiating. Burial was in St. John's cemetery.

Pallbearers were Steve Naber, Craig Naber, Barry Dircks, Donald Ruther, Dewey Dircks and John Dircks. Music was provided by soloists Gary Goldsmith and Dr. Ronald Goldsmith, and the St. John's adult choir. Mrs. Robert Hasselbusch was the organist.

Mr. Dircks died July 17 at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids. He was born at Clarence, May 6, 1904, the son of Henry and Mary Debner Dircks. He married Leona Goldsmith Dec. 23, 1925 at Clarence.

The couple farmed for a number of years and then originated Le-Hi's restaurant. Dircks served as mayor of Clarence from 1950 to 1959. The couple moved to Clinton where Dircks operated the Plaza Bowling Center until 1965 and returned to Clarence in December, 1975.

Survivors are his wife, a daughter, Mrs. John (Eileen) Naber, Cedar Rapids; and a son, Kenneth, Clarence; 6 grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Mrs. Harold (Selma) Ruther, Clarence, and Mrs. W. Joseph (Berniece) Schultz, Washington, D. C.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and a brother.
