Mrs. John Dean Dies at Home in Dakota

Anna M. Monahan, daughter of John and Jane McCormick Monahan, was born in Tipton, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage to John D. Dean of Mechanicsville. They resided at Wellsville, Kansas, where Mr. Dean had banking interests and later at Ottawa, Kansas. After her husband's death a number of years ago, Mrs. Dean and daughters returned to Tipton to make their home. At the close of the summer of 1940 Mrs. Dean went to Devils Lake, N.D., to live with her daughter Eva K. Dean. For several summers she and her daughters returned to Iowa, residing in Iowa City. During her residence in Tipton she was a member at one time of the Searchlight club, Harmony club, Woman's club and St. Mary's Guild.

She passed away as the result of a heart attack at Devils Lake, N.D. Nov. 8, 1952.

Survivors are her two daughters, Eva K. Dean and Genevieve M. Dean, both of Devils Lake, N.D., a sister, Mrs. May L. Lohman of Oakland, Calif., and a brother J. J. Monahan of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, and a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Those attending the funeral from out of town were May L. Lohman, Oakland, Calif., Paul Lohman, Clarence, Gertrude Dunne, Chicago, Pearl Early, Edith Hayes, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Otto, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Nahra and family of Davenport, Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Crock of Mechanicsville and Louise Mochler of Cedar Rapids.

Mrs. Dean was a true friend and kind neighbor and leaves many friends who will mourn her passing.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church, Tuesday morning, Nov. 11, at 9 o'clock, with Father Collins officiating with burial in Kansas. Sheets funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
