Final rites for Herman Otto Deerberg, 65, were held at the Horner Funeral home Nov. 23 with the Rev. Donald Wooge officiating. Burial was in the Van Horne cemetery at Lowden.

Pallbearers were Lafe Hudachek, John Koppenhaver, Wilbur Colby, Raymond Fisher, Edward Poduska and J. Robert Ross. Mrs. E. H. Littig was organist.

Mr. Deerberg died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Nov. 19.

The son of Carl and Sophie Budde Deerberg, he was born at Lowden Dec. 12, 1910 and attended rural schools in the Lowden area.

He was married to Verna M. Drichel in Lowden Dec. 3, 1937. He farmed west of Mechanicsville until 1973 when he and his wife moved into Mechanicsville.

He was affiliated with the United Methodist church at Mechanicsville.

He is survived by his wife, 2 daughters, Mrs. Joyce Robertson, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Donna Paider, Mechanicsville; 3 sisters, Mrs. Sophie Helmold, Clarence and Mrs. Christine Prange and Mrs. Minnie Wendt, Lowden; 3 brothers, Henry, Clarence and Anton and Fred, Lowden; 4 grandchildren, David and Kristi Robertson and Michael nd Susan Paidar. He was preceded in death by an infant son, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
