Funeral services for Joel "Jody" Curley, 20, Oxford Junction, were held July 24, 1988 at Hayden's in Oxford Junction, with the Rev. Ronald Laschmit and the Rev. Stan Gourd officiating. Pallbearers were Jone Jones, Joel Hahn, Mike Tubbs, Tom Otten, Brett Minar and Mick Thurston. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.
Mr. Curley died July 20 in a car-tractor accident south of Oxford Junction.
The son of Danny and Kathy Onstott Curley, he was born March 24, 1968 in Iowa City. He graduated from Clarence-Lowden high school in 1987 and was employed as a hired hand for an area farmer. He was living at home.
Mr. Curley was an E-1 private in the Iowa National Guard Reserves - Company C in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his parents; 3 brothers, Scott, Mathew and Nicholas, all at home; his maternal grandmother, Mary Laing, Lisbon; his paternal grandmother, Anna Curley, Clarence and his maternal great-grandparents, the Rev. and Mrs. Stan Gourd, Albuquerque, N. Mex. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandfathers.
