Last rites for Walter Spear, 84, retired Cedar county farmer, were held July 6 at the Chapman Funeral home, Clarence. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery. Mr. Spear died at his home in Tipton July 3.

The son of Steward D. and Charlotte Elliott Spear, he was born on a farm south of Clarence August 20, 1883. He lived on this farm until he retired in 1949.

Mr. Spear was married to Allie E. Long November 28, 1906. He was a member of the Church of the Brethren.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Mrs. Alvah (Carol) Morphew, Clarence; 2 granddaughters, Mrs. Gerd (Dixie) Dudenbostle, Steuben, Wisc. and Karlene Morphew, Clarence; 4 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Domer, Clarence and Mrs. Eva Meyers, Waterloo.

He was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Robert, Johnston and Roy and 2 sisters, Mrs. Sarah Domer and Mrs. Margaret McFate and a grandson, Wesley Morphew.
