C. R. Mussig, 46, Buried Monday at Stanwood

Funeral services were held Monday at Sheets and Son Funeral Home, Tipton, for Clarence R. Mussig, 46, Cedar Valley. Mr. Mussig died Thursday, June 13, at University hospitals, Iowa City, following a lingering illness.

Gordon Smith officiated at the services and burial was in the Stanwood cemetery. Mrs. Max Phelps was the organist with Oscar Bismark, Carl Haesemeyer, Dennis Doland, Raymond Rupe, Nile Roszell and Darrell Bair serving as pallbearers.

Miss Violet Zousel and Mrs. Oscar Bismark were in charge of the flowers and Garey Whalen Post No. 123 American Legion, Tipton, conducted military rites.

Clarence Richard Mussig was born at Stanwood May 13, 1922, the son of Albert and Hazel Graft Mussig. He was educated in the Stanwood school and worked as a truck driver. He was a veteran of World War II and had lived in Cedar Valley for 16 years.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Paul (Susan) Schmalfeldt, Lowden; 3 sons, Richard, West Branch; James, with the navy at Holy Loch, Scotland and Robert, Clarence; a sister, Mrs. Francis (Mabel) Baker, West Branch, 2 brothers, Jack, Omaha, Neb., and Laurence, Tacoma, Wash. and his mother, Mrs. Hazel Mussig, Tipton. He was preceded in death by his father.
