Mrs. Brennan, Former Teacher, Dies

Julia Agnes Brennan passed away at Ralston's Nursing Home Monday, March 3, at 1:30 a.m. Funeral services were conducted at St. Mary's church, Tipton, and the burial was in St. Bridget's cemetery at Nolan Settlement.

She was born Oct. 17, 1871, the daughter of Dennis and Helen Murphy Hayes. She attended the West Liberty school and after graduation entered the University of Iowa.

She married Edward Brennan at Iowa City on Sept. 28, 1919. They farmed near Tipton until 1941. Then they moved to Tipton where she lived until July, 1951. From then until her death, she made her home at the Ralston Nursing Home.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward, three brothers, Dennis, William and John Hayes, and two sisters, Millie and Nell.

Surviving are two step-daughters, Mrs. Frank Shima Jr., and Mrs. Raymond Crock, both of Tipton; a sister Edith M. Hayes of Davenport, and a brother J. I. Hayes of Manly, Iowa.

We, her family, and friends, will miss her, but we will always remember her as a kind and helpful woman. Her interest in people and in the world made her a good teacher and an interesting companion.
