Ida Hoffmeier 1883-1968

Mrs. Henry (Ida) Hoffmeier, 86, Lowden, died Sept. 23 at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Herald Hoffmeier, where she had resided 26 years.

Services were Sept. 25 in Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden. Burial was in Lutheran cemetery, Lowden. The Amvets auxiliary, of which Mrs. Hoffmeier was a member, attended services in a group.

Ida Wiebel was born north of Lowden in 1883, the daughter of Fred and Dorothea Klipp Wiebel. She married Henry Hoffmeier in 1905. He died in 1926.

Mrs. Hoffmeier is survived by 4 sons, Herold, Lorenz and Gerhard, all of Lowden, and Edwin, Milan, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Edwin (Bertha) Wenndt, Lowden; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 sisters, Mrs. William (Bertha) Sessler, Newhall; Alvina Wiebel, Cedar Rapids, and Mrs. H. O. (Alma) Hoffmeier, Maquoketa, and a brother, Fred H. Wiebel, Lowden.

Following the death of her husband, Mrs. Hoffmeier farmed with her sons until Herold was married in 1942 and she has made her home with them since that time.

She was a life member of Trinity Lutheran church, Lowden, the sewing circle and Ladies aid.
