Funeral services for Stanley H. Maurer, 69, Tipton, were held May 27,1989 at the First United Church of Christ in Tipton, with the Rev. Robert Molsberry officiating. The organist was Betty Trevathan and pallbearers were Kenneth Miller, Russ Wethington, Jerry Hartog, Lloyd Hasselbusch, Ralph McIntosh and Robert Rix. Burial was in the Tipton Masonic cemetery.

Mr. Maurer died unexpectedly at his home near Tipton May 23.

The son of Herbert and Bertha Pfarr Maurer, he was born July 25, 1919 in rural Cedar county. He graduated from Tipton high school in 1937 and Iowa State University in 1941. He married LaVonne Mauderer Nov. 13, 1944 in Vernon Parish, La.

Mr. Maurer served with the U.S. Army in World War II and was a member of the Clarence American Legion Post. He was also a member of the Independent Insurance Agents Association and the First United Church of Christ.

He was a retired farmer and was a semi-retired insurance agent.

Mr. Maurer is survived by a daughter, Janet Maurer, Iowa City; 2 sons, Rex, Issaquah, Wash. and Steve, Clarence; 2 grandsons; a brother, Gale, Tipton, 3 sisters, Mrs. Jerry (Maureen) Salisbury, Torrence, Calif.; Mrs. George (Margery) Fraseur, Spencer and Shirley Maurer, Tipton and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife and one sister.
