7 December 1917 - The Lowden News

Mrs. Henrietta Augusta Hilcher, nee Schultz, was born August 23, 1852, in Nekia, Province Posen, Germany. She was married October 5, 1879, to Carl Daniel Hilscher. In April they came to America with one child arriving here on May 10th, where they since had made their home. To this union were born five daughters and two sons, one son dying in infancy.

On April 21, 1909, her husband after a short illness passed to the Great Beyond, leaving the kind mother to rear the family to man and womanhood which she did faithfully, until about two years ago she took sick with dropsy and since then gradually grew worse until Friday morning at 10:30 o'clock she was relieved from her sufferings.

Deceased leaves to mourn her death five daughters, Martha, Alvena, Augusta, Mrs. John H. Sander, all of Lowden, and Mrs. R. O. Kintzel of Clarence, and one son, Otto; also four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held at the home Monday afternoon at 1:30, followed by services in the Evangelical church, the Rev. J. Reichardt officiating. Interment in the Lowden cemetery.
