Geo. H. Russ Rites Set For Friday P.M.

George Henry Russ, a patient in the Ralston nursing home in Tipton died Tuesday evening. The funeral service is being arranged by the Sheets funeral home, and will be held Friday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at the Ev. and Reformed Church in Tipton with the Rev. Harold Kratzat officiating. Interment will be in the Van Horn cemetery near Lowden, Iowa.

Mr. Russ was born in Holstein, Germany, Sept. 1,1873. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Elias McNea of East Moline; Mrs. Martha Wendt of Clarence; one son Arthur Russ of Wheatland, seven grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

Mr. George Russ was born in Holstein, Germany, Sept. 1, 1873. He came to America at the age of 17 years. He married Marie Albrecht in the year 1896. To this union were born two daughters Elsie McNeil of East Moline and Martha Wendt of Clarence. His wife then died in 1901. Then in 1902 he married Mrs. Sophia Tevis. To this union was born one son, Arthur, of Wheatland. They farmed together in Luverne, Minn. for 7 years. They then returned to Iowa in 1909. They made their home on a farm between Wheatland and Bennett for 36 years before moving to Tipton in 1945. His second wife preceded him in death in 1945.

Besides his two daughters and one son, seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren survive him. He was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church in Tipton. He died after a lingering illness in the Ralston Nursing Home.

Funeral services were conducted by the Sheets funeral home. The service was held in St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church in Tipton, with Rev. Harold Kratzat officiating. Burial was in the Van Horne cemetery near Wheatland.
