Funeral services for Elmer W. (Dewey) Sawyer, 98, will be held at United Methodist church, Clarence, at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 1989, with the Rev. Tom Biatek officiating. Burial will be in the Clarence cemetery. Sally Sawyer is organist and the mixed quartet will sing. Visitation is at the Chapman Funeral Home from 3 to 7 p.m. March 8.

Mr. Sawyer died at the Clarence Nursing Home March 5.

The son of Calvin and Annie Britcher Sawyer, he was born at Clarence Nov. 22, 1890 and spent his life in the Clarence area. He was married to Mabel Crist June 2, 1915. She died in 1980. He was a retired farmer.

Mr. Sawyer is survived by nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife and a brother, Ralph.
